DMARC

Definition

DMARC is a policy layer built on SPF and DKIM that tells receiving servers what to do with messages failing authentication, and sends the domain owner reports on those failures.

Why it matters

A DMARC policy of none collects data without acting; quarantine sends failures to spam; reject blocks them outright. Gmail and Yahoo's bulk-sender rules require at least a published DMARC record.
